yesterday and returned last night. He is there only for a short time.
Yesterday we had the pleasing visit of the Curate of Nelson B.C. the Rev.d March 2 [back/right margin]
Mr. Althoff. He is a Hollander from near Amsterdam. He is a very fine man, a gentleman in fact, and above all, a good priest. Had we many like him !!! The R.Father Cocola, from Fernie, accompanied him and we spent a day in good Company. The weather was too cold to visit in and around town….We had a very bad month of February… One night we had 30 below 0.
Another surprise was the visit of R.P. Levern, who visiting 7 [back/right margin]
the east part of the Blood reserve, where he is Superior of the Mission came to see us, and passed the Sunday here; He officiated at High Mass and consequently we were not obliged, for once, to say Two Masses. The reverend Father returned Monday morning early; as he had to see some more indian [sic] villages on his way home, which about 50 miles from Lethbridge.
The Basilien, Father Stroski, from near Edmonton arrived here 14th [back/right margin]
yesterday morning and celebrated high mass in the Old Slavinic [sic] Rite.
Most of Slavonians will perform their Easter duties while the Father is April 5th [back/right margin]

Easter Sunday was a most beautiful day, nice, calm weather. The holy week passed as usual…The services were well attended. The night watches were kept as usual by the Slavonians. There were One Hundred and Thirty Communions on Easter morning. The Slovacs [sic] as on previous year brought nice things To the church, for blessing after the first mass. The church was full from early morning. But some Fifty had to remain outside during High Mass.
Two Belgians from Thielt arrived here this week… having bought a team 24 [back/right margin]

March 1st [front/left margin] Almost Eight months have passed since Father VanTighem received a message from the Superior General of the Oblates of Mary Imm. [sic] of which Order the father is a member, that he should go to Europe to take part in the General Chapter, to begin in Liege, Belgium in August. This invitation was quite unexpected. For Thirty years the father had been quitly [sic] working in the missions and he thought here to end his life without ever seeing again the old fatherland. The news was received with joy…and a few days later the long journey began….
