Joseph VanTighem the nephew of the father who has been as College for years in Eastern Oct. 26 [back/right margin] Canada, returned here yesterday and will go to work.
R. Father Blanchet of Pincher met with an accident when on a sick-      Nov 10 [back/right margin]
call during the night, the horses running in a wire fence. Father VanTighem went up to see him and returned to same day. Brother Ryan who stays with Father Blanchet was bit by a dog, in the arm, and went to the hospital. Father Blanchet had his anckle [sic] badly sprained but is doing well.
Father VanTighem a few days ago, went to Stirling and said mass at the Station.
Rev Father Lestanc who has been to the Frank, Blairmore and Lille      Nov. 30 [back/right margin]
coalmines, arrived here this morning. It is most beautifull [sic] weather. But it has been very windy of late. Great calm this morning and we may soon expect a change.
Coutts [written in pencil in-between sentences] Father VanTighem visited the     Dec. 4 [back/right margin]
Catholics of Coutts on the First, Second and Third of Dec and said H. Mass at Mr. Tennants House. Mr. FitzPatrick and Family drove in 14 miles and there were Ten Persons who approached the Sacraments. No definite steps were as yet taken for the building of a little church at Coutts, but it may be that a couple of men will canvas the country soon for that purpose.
There was held a reunion of the Oblate Fathers for the district of          Dec 15 [back/right margin]
Calgary, at McLeod, for the purpose of chosing [sic] a delegate to the Vicarial chapter at St Albert. The Chapter General of the Congretion [sic] is to be at Liège, Belgium, in September 1904. Rev’ Father Lacombe has promised to come to Lethbridge and help Father VanTighem for the feast of Christmass [sic].
The Holy Feast of Christmass [sic] is passed and well passed!. We had fine services in 26 [back/right margin]
the church… R.P. Lacombe celebrated the Midnight Mass. There were very many Communions… two low masses followed…
Joseph VanTighem the Father’s nephew went to Okotoks, there to take a position in the Union Banks of Canada, on the 24th. inst.
We have beautiful weather… the ferry Boat crosses the River.

Dec 26 [front/left margin] R.P. Lacombe left for Regina this morning…we had a horrible wind gale, for about Two hours last night. The coll. in church: $36°°

Jan 7 [front/left margin] Ever since Christmass [sic] the weather is fine --- but we have sometimes very heavy winds.
16 [front/left margin] Revd. Father Cocola came to Lethbridge, from his actual mission Fernie B.C. It was his first visit here, but he remained only till evening, so he left last night.    R.P. Schult came also for Two hours last-night and immediately returned to Med. Hat where he actually resides for a time. The weather continues beautiful.
After having made application to the Dept. of the Interior, for 40 acres of land at Coutts, there to build a church, father VanTighem was Twice refused….the first time, they answered and said that this land was on quarantine Reserve…..and this having proved untrue, then they told the father the Land was not available, as a R.R. C° had the first choice.   The father on leaving this, at once wrote, to Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the Premier, and told him that if the Government refused land for a church at Coutts on the Canadian side, we were resolved to build the Church across the International Line, on American ground, in Montana… Two Three days after the answer came that the land was available and we could get it. The Entree was made accordingly, and the Ten dollar fee was paid for the Legal Subdivision 1…S.5…Town 1….Range 15. West of 4th meridian. On the 28th day December 1903
Jan 19 [front/left margin] Cold weather started-in on last Sunday…yesterday morning it went to 17/0 and to day 12/0 only.
