After seven months of absence during which the father visited          March [back/right margin]
his old relatives and friends… went to Rome, saw and was received in audience by, the Holy Father Pius X.. assisted at the glorious feasts of the Jubilee of the Immaculate Conception and the canonisation of Two new Saints; after this long vacation he returned to Lethbridge during the first days of February . .1905 and now, as this journal has been ever interrupted since our departure, we shall begin again this day being the First of St Josephs Month.
   A whole block, 22 town lots, was purchased to day from Mr. Bowman, real Estate Agent, for the sum of Five Thousand dollars.   It is Block 10 on the legal map of the Townsite of Lethbridge. It is on this block that we intend to erect our new Church.
Coutts [written in pencil in-between the lines] Father VanTighem went to Coutts last Tuesday and remained for Three 17th [back/right margin] days at Mr. Tennant’s residence.   Most of the Catholics came to assist at H. Mass and performed their Easter duties.
The father seing [sic] the good dispositions of the people and profiting of the presence, near Coutts of a good carpenter, gave the contract for a little Church, to be built immediately on the 40 acres plot which the government granted us last year.    The building to be 40 x 24 ft with a porch of 6 x 6 ft. All finished in and outside with Two coats of paint.    Such for the sum of $600°° . The contractor is Mr. Paul Audet, a French Canadian.
R.P. Naessens passed a day with us… Last week R.P. Kulawy was          21 – [back/right margin]
here for Two days.
Easter has passed again… we again held all the Services             April 25 [back/right margin]
of the Holy Week.. R. P. Lepine of Blairmore came to help a little on Holy Thurs- and Friday.
On May the first we paid the balance for the Block we have lately purchased… we have received the Transfer and the Patent.
The Revd Father Leduc has arrived here, to consult our eminent May 4 [back/right margin]

May 4 [front/left margin] An abcess [sic] has formed under the Tongue – and must absolutely be removed. The Rev’Father Lacombe will arrive to night in order to go to Montreal with the patient if needed.
6th [front/left margin] Rev’Father Leduc has been operated to day, and so far, the results are bright and cheerful…and so is the revd.Patient who can find a joke even now in his precarious state.
July [front/left margin] We expect our beloved Bishop for the 9th of this month… His Lordship will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation…. there are very few children, as our first communicants were almost all Slavonians belonging to the Greek united church.. and have been confirmed by their priest at their Baptism.
15 [front/left margin] We had again fine ceremonies in church, on the occasion of the Bishops presence… R.P. Blanchet OMI of Pincher Creek accompanied His Lordship [Section accompanied by blue vertical line in the margin] Coutts [written in pencil in the margin] Confirmation was administered at the evening service to Fifteen candidated [sic].
On the Eleventh of this month of July, His Lordship Mgr. Legal OMI Bishop of St Albert, went to Coutts, on the Boundery [sic] Line to the South, there to bless a new little church, just erected and completed. Two Priest --- Two Sisters --- Three Altar boys and a few singers went with his Lordship ---- Father VanTighem had left the day previous, in order to prepare things…in fact the father had been there several days, every week, for a long time… [end of blue vertical line in the margin]
The Train leaving Lethbridge at 730 arrived at Coutts at 11’ AM. Some vihacles [sic] arrived at the depot and soon all were at the new chapel. The ceremony began at once… The church being blessed outside.. the procession entered the chapel singing the Litany of the Saints… The High Mass was celebrated by Father VanTighem OMI – His Lordship gave the Sermon after the gospel and it was nearly Two O’Clock before all was terminated ---
Several riggs [sic] were waiting for the party and soon were on their way to Mr. Tennants Ranch, 3 miles distance, where a sumptious [sic] dinner awaited us. Such ceremonies are
