very affecting…so primitif [sic] is everything, that one thinks himself to be at the first ages of Christianity. Many an Europian [sic] would give money to witness such a ceremony in the prairies of the Wild West. The little church built of wood, is 40 x 25 feet, neatly finished. It is dedicated to the Holy Angels. The priest from Lethbridge will go to Coutts every Second Tuesday of each month and remain Two or Three days.
Father VanTighem went to the retreat at St Albert and has 21 [back/right margin]
returned. it [sic] was the revd. Father Lacoste OMI, Vice-Rector of the Ottawa University who preached the retreat to over 40 Oblates. There is actually an illustrious visitor in this vicariate of St Albert. One of the Assistants Generals, the Rev ‘Father Dozois O.M.I has been sent from Europe to visit our different missions in the Nord West.

25th. [front/left margin] Many people come to see our fine apple trees, loaded with apples. Five Trees bearing fruit; Three crabs and Two large sized. The Hon. Minister of Agriculture came also to day, in company with Mr-McGrath, Major Begin, and some other gentlemen…They were astonished when they came in the garden to see such fine fruit, apples and plumbs [sic].--- These Trees were planted in the Spring of 1900.
We have a new agent at the C.P.R. station here, Mr. McRea who is a good catholic gentleman of Ontario, but who has resided a few years in the West.
Oct 10 [front/left margin] News arrives from St Albert that our beloved Bishop is no longer Vicar of the Oblates Fathers in this diocese; notwithstanding the vigourous [sic] protestations of almost all the fathers and Brothers His Lordship has insisted that another Vicar should be appointed.
Therefore, it is officially announced that Revd. Father Henri Grandin, nephew of our late and Saintly Bishop is nominated to that important position. R.P. Merer is now first consultor [sic] with R.P. Jan… Second consultors [sic] R.P. Leduc and Naessens. The retiring authorities are the R.R. P.P. Lacombe and Lestanc.
12 [front/left margin] The Contract for our new Depot is being given… it is to be started at once.. Brick and Stone over one Hundred feet long by Thirty.
13 [front/left margin] Father VanTighem just returned from Coutts, where he remained

20 [front/left margin] Rev ‘Father Therrien O.M.I. passed yesterday [underlined in blue] through Lethbridge and remained a few hours. These Three last days were rather cold for the time of the year.
30th [front/left margin] The Reverend Father Dozois, Assistent [sic] General of the Congregation of the Oblate Fathers, and, Visiteur [sic], to this Vicariate of St Albert, arrived here yesterday morning and will remain a few days.
