Early in the morning the Slavish women came to church with baskets full of eatables – cakes – meats – eggs – butter – jugs of water even, all this to be solemnly blessed by the priest on Easter Sunday morning, after the manner and custom of their own country.
Confessions which had been heard till ten o’clock last night resumed this morning --- Holy Communion was distributed at 8 o’clock and a at 9 o’cl…[sic] High Mass at eleven Grand music – and sermon. –
In the evening at 7 o’clock solemn vespers – sermon and benediction with the Blessed Sacrament and confessions again. A large Congregation had gathered for High Mass the Altar was blessed before the service begun, and was most handsomly [sic] decorated.
As we had some cold rain towards the evening, the attendance at Vespers was not so large as at High Mass.
