Monseigneur Brondel remained in Lethbridge for nearly a week and happy indeed were the days spent together by these two Belgians.
On Saturday night 21th [sic] May, arrived also in Lethbridge Mgr McDonnell, bishop of Alexandria, Glengary Ontario… Visiting some of his relatives residing in Lethbridge.
So we had the happiness of possessing two bishops at our Sunday services in the Church. Moreover, Father Legal was invited and arrived here with brother Danis.
Father Legal said High Mass... The two Bishops assisted in their robes, Brother Danis was Master of Ceremonies and Father VanTighem joined the Choir for the occasion.
Bishop Brondel preached an elaborated Sermon at High Mass and a still more effective one in the evening… Several protestants assisted. A Great dinner had been prepared at the convent. ---
On the next day, the party was invited to Mrs Cody’s, for Bishop McDonnell is Mrs Cody’s uncle. On Monday night 23th [sic]. The two Bishops took the evening Train to Dunmore… and Father VanTighem escorted them as far as Medecin [sic] Hat.
On Tuesday evening, the Illustrious Visitors arrived at Med. Hat… Arch.Bishop Taché – ArcB.. Duhamel Bishop Lorrain, Bishop LaFlèche, Bishop Grouard, and many others of the High Clergy of Canada.
They will pass Ascension Day in Calgary and from there go to St Albert’s; return to Calgary- procede [sic] to Kamploops [sic] to assist at the Meeting of the Indians
Thence to New. Westmunster [sic], Vancouver and Victoria.

Among the Visitors was one Redemptorist Father, a Belgian residing in Montreal. He comes to inspect the country and see if some belgian [sic] families could be brought here.
June 1st [written in the front margin] Father VanTighem takes the stage to day for MacLeod in order to visit Father Comiré at that place. – He had not seen his old mission for over six months.
June 10th [written in the front margin] Father Lacombes great ecclesiastical excursion is over. His Lordship Bishop Brondel arrives in Lethbridge on his way to Great Falls and Helena.
His Lordship remains for two days here, and gives us a fine description of the glorious receptions which the noble party has received all over the North-West Terr. and British Columbia. Bishop Brondel is delighted with what he has seen in our different missions.
12th To day a few of our children made their first communion at High Mass. In the afternoon at 4 O.C. p. they received the Holy Scapular, renewed their baptismal vows, and were consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Immaculate.
27th Father VanTighem departs to night from Lethbridge in order to assist as the annual retreat which takes place at St. Alberts.-
When arrived at Gleichen on the C.P.R. a despatch calls the father back to Medecin[sic] Hat, where a man is dangerously ill. The father returns at once, and administre [sic] the last Sacraments to a Slavish man suffering from an inflammation in the Bowels… returning at once, the father arrives in Calgary at 2 O’Clock in the morning to depart again for Edmonton at 8 O. a.m.
