Revd Mother McCormack went to the hospital, Two days ago       march 12 [back/right margin]
there to undergo a very dangerous operation. She has been suffering very much ever since
The R. Mother is very low… hemorrhagy [sic] of the bowels has set in…         13 [back/right margin]
and we fear very much.- This is the Critical moment.
April ~ The Revd Mother is out of all danger. Deo Gratias
Augt. 15th. [underlined with a squiggly line] All the Mothers and Sisters are in Calgary for their annual retreat. – Bennie Larson returned to school Augst 15 [back/right margin] yesterday and brought his little brother, about seven years of age.    
The Father also has been to Calgary to the retreat, preached by Bishop Legal. It began on the 23d and terminated the 30th July.
   Mr. John Kenny has been appointed Custom Collector of the port of Lethbridge, instead of Mr. Fr. Champness who died lately….   The widow of Mr. Champness is errecting [sic] a frame Two story residence near our church here. The lots were given free to her. The house will cost about 1700 dollars.
   The Rev ‘Father Doucet pays a short visit to Lethbridge and reports all =       26 [back/right margin]
well at the Piegan Reserve, where he resides with Frère Jean Berchmans, since the desertion of our unfortunate Father Danis, who is actually in Willow city N.D.
The weather is very hot now and favorable for the harvest.
The Sister [sic] are building actually a little hospital in the Lane (closed now) to be used in case of contigious [sic] deseases [sic].
Sept 2d. The Reverend Father Lepine of the industrial School of High River passed a Augst. 31 [back/right margin]
day in Lethbridge ; arriving yesterday morning, he returned this morning by McLeod, taking a basket full of plants for his new conservatory.
The weather continues very favorably.
Father VanTighem on the invitation of R. P. Lebret went to McLeod on      Sep 15 [back/right margin]
Saturday night, in order to preach at High Mass an occasionnal [sic] Sermon… For a new High Altar had been purchased in Montreal and was to be blessed before High Mass…
It was also the patronal feast of the Mission: Holy Cross: and in the evening, after the solemn station of the Cross the father preachd [sic].

15th Sep [front/left margin] again. The assistance was good, but nothing extra.    The R.P. Lebret received H. Communion at 3 O’Clock A.M. as he is unable to celebrate now. He, however assisted the High Mass and blessed himself the Altar.
23 [front/left margin] R. Père Doucet visits Lethbridge and reports that all goeth [sic] well at the Piegan Reserve Mission, Bother [sic] John Berchmans also enjoys better health.
Oct. 15th [front/left margin] Father VanTighem left last Sunday night for Pincher Creek, there to meet his Lordship Bishop Legal. A great ceremony had taken place that day at St. Michael’s Church of Pincher: Three fine bells, the gift of Mr Gilrooth, had arrived from France and were blessed by Monseignor [sic]…
R.P. Lestanc had preached the sermon, and the Fathers from the Indian reserves were present: Doucet and Levern. The Bells are a fine set, quite large, as the biggest weights [sic] nearly 900 bls [sic].
R.P. Lebret went under an operation last week, at his residence in McLeod….he is very much exhausted now and with his old age and infirmities may not recover.    R.P. Danis who had suddenly left that mission some time ago, has returned, and so R.P. Legoff returns north.    We have beautiful weather.
16th [front/left margin] Mr. Costello, inspector of Weights and Mosures [sic] is actually in Lethbridge on an official visit; a good Catholic, and a warm friend of the Mission Mr. Costello is always welcome! –
22d. [front/left margin] Blackeye, a Piegan Indian brought down Two Sisters, Grey Nuns, from that reservation to see the Dentist here. They return home this morning. We have glorious Weather, but it looks as if it were going to rain.
To night begins the Bazaar in aid of the Convent, in Olivers hall.
A postcard just received from McLeod announces that R.P. Lebret refuses all food and medecines [sic] and that the end cannot be far off.
Nov 14 [front/left margin] But, R.P. Lebret is alive yet..: and is better… R.P. Danis who has lately returned to McLeod is now taking care of him, and is assisted by Two Grey Nuns from the Blood reserve….R.P. Doucet came here, last week and remained Two days. Also the Rev’ Mr. Janotte the Curate of Medecin Hat [sic] made his first visit to Lethbridge.
