March 18th A Greek Cath. Priest; Johan Ardan from Olyphant Pennsylvania, visited our Slovac Catholics and remained here for three days. Having wired to the Bishop for Juridiction [sic] for him, The answer came in the affirmativ [sic]. and he heard The confession of Sixty Three Slavonians and gave them H. Communion according to Their rites. We have fine Spring Weather; The blue bird arrived Two weeks ago … which is a sign of early Spring – our Rev & Father Lacombe left for Europe and may be absent for about a year.
May 10 – a Polish priest residing at the Bishop’s palace, and in charge of the Galicians around Edmonton arrived in Lethbridge visiting the Slavs of This place. As it was only a short time since Rev. Ardan had been here, there was little to do for him.
June 4th Our Coadjutor bishop, Mgr Legal, arrived in Lethbridge on Friday night, and gave Confirmation to Nineteen persons, yesterday Sunday, in the church. Fourteen of them had received their first Communion in the morning from the hands of the Bishop.    His Lordship will go to Med. Hat this evening from thence to the Reserve at Blackfoot Crossing, Calgary and McLeod, where on next Sunday the new church is to be blessed. Father VanTighem has been invited to preach on this occasion.    A Concert was given last week in aid of the church which realised [sic] $47°° only …
The Rev. & Father Blanchet O M I. from Pincher Creek, accompanied His Lordship in his visit to Lethbridge.
June 11th Yesterday Trinity Sunday took place in McLeod the blessing of the new church, by the right Rev. & Emile Legal OM[I] Coadjutor of Mgr. Grandin. The Fathers present were Fathers VanTighem, LeVern, Danis, and Brothers Barrau and [sic]         The New Church was well filled; a

good number of Protestant attending.   The church is quite spacious, strongly built with a handsome little spire.
July 6 -. The Rev. & Father Lebret after having preached the Annual retreat to the Sisters returned to McLeod.
Coutts [written in pencil in the margin] Father VanTighem leaves the R. Father in charge at Lethbridge and goeth [sic] along the South Line to visit some people and restore peace in some families where it had unfortunately been disturbed… Strange it is that both the families where the father was invited were protestant: The Father goeth [sic] as far as Great Falls, where he visits the Priest who is a Belgian, R. Father Alayes from Ypres -.
The Rev & Father Doucet paid us a visit also at Lethbridge.
July 16 – The Halfbreed Commission charged to settle the claims of these people Were to be here on June the 19th about one Hunded [sic] Halfbreeds from the United States arrived here and were obliged to return, the date for the meeting being postponed till the 10th of July ---   Again these poor people were here for this date. – It is already the 16th of July to day, and they have not arrived as yet. Many Halfbreeds are destitute and we have wired to Ottawa for assistance
The Rev & Father Therrien OMI arrived here yesterday, en route to Lewistown Mont. – to preach a mission to the
19th [written in front/left margin] Halfbreeds there … it appears they number 400 – Ottawa will do nothing for the halfbreeds …. The commission has not arrived yet ….
