Sep.t 30 [written in the back/right margin] During this month of September the work has progressed very slowly. Although there are three carpenters constantly working, the contractor Cody being absent most of the time, nothing advances. It becomes evident that the Contractor has bad intentions.
The revd Father Legal arrives from the Blood Reserve and will remain a few days in Lethbridge. It is decided between the fathers to invite Mr Mr Curry and Tennant and to summon Cody in their presence to force him to give a statement of affairs; for it is now a month after time and the work is only half done.
It is at this meeting that the contractor reveals his inability to fulfil the contract. He has moreover the impudence to ask for nearly five hundred dollars extra. This man has taken revenge, because a small contract in the Convent was let to Mr. Oliver. In his anger he threatened the father, and said, that he would be sorry for having given this work to another contractor.
The Fathers, together with M Mr Curry and Tennant decide to order Cody away, at once.
So the Father will now engage a few carpenters and will himself oversee the work.

Oct. 20 [written in the front/left margin] The reverend Father Lestanc, superior of this district and residing in Calgary arrives at Lethbridge and will remain for about two weeks. During this time Father VanTighem goes to work himself in order to complete the church. Four carpenters have been engaged and the work is progressing rapidly. Instead of the iron metalic [sic] shingles it has been decided to put on Cedar, which is much cheaper and it may be, as durable.
Nov. 1 [written in the front/left margin] Rev.d Father Lestanc has returned to his mission. It was a real confort [sic] for the priest here to gave a companion for a few days; so much the more so, that this companion is the Ancient Protector and great Benefactor of the father. They know one another for about twenty years now.
Nov. 20 [written in the front/left margin] Last week we took out the forest of scaffolding from the inside of the Church… The Vault being finished – painted blue with a thousand of golden stars to decorate…
The new pews have also arrived and will be put together next week.
We have a mild fall wheather [sic] up to this time and all the work is terminated outside.
During the month of November mass was said every day for the Soul of Purgatory. These masses were to the intention, mostly of our schoolchildren who made a little collection among themselves for this purpose. Many parisheners [sic] also have ordered masses for the Souls during this month.
