Our Very Reverend Father General Soullier has arrived at Calgary, accompanied by Revd Father Antoine Assistant General. All the fathers of the district are called together and Father Antoine preaches them a retreat of three days. Father VanTighem goeth again to Calgary to assist at the retreat and to meet the Superior General.
9th Jun. [written in the back/right margin] On the 9th of June, the fathers return to McLeod the general will visit the Blood reservation only. So Lethbridge and the other missions are left out.
18th [written in back/right margin]
An advertissement [sic] for Tenders is posted and to day by the father, for an addition to the Church of 25+45 f. with two side chapels of 12+12 f. and a Vestry of 10+16 f. [blue vertical line in the right margin]
The old addition will be removed to the south side of the church to be used as a Mission house and residence for the priest.
We have a magnificent Springtime; fine rains about every week, never our prairies were greener and more beautiful. the trees around the church are growing well and every one admires them.
26th [written in the back/right margin followed by a vertical blue line underneath] The Contract for moving the old Church-addition, which is to serve as a mission house and to be enlarged with a brick front addition of 22+14 f. inside – also the building of an addition to the Church, Brick veneer 45+25 f- with a sexagone [sic] addition of 8 f. – these contracts have been let to Mr. Cody the first for the sum of $750°° = the second $1380°°
So we have to look foreward to gather in the round sum of $2130°°….

June 26 [written in the front/left margin] The great and very sad news of the death of our beloved Archbishop Monseigneur Taché, reaches us to day.
After ling sufferings…indeed, torments of many years, his Grace has been finally released and gone to his reward. A large stone of two inch long was found in the bladder, and many smaller ones had been crushed by a previous operation. The remains of His Grace will be laid besides those of his predessessor [sic] Mgr Provencher first bishop of St. Boniface. R.I.P.
July 14 [written in the front/left margin] Work on our new church and presbytery was began last week. The old addition was removed and placed in South-West corner of the lots.
20 [written in the front/left margin] Our very Reverend Father General having visited our missions in British Columbia these last weeks, has gone north to visit St. Albert, and we learn to day that several changes have been made in the personal[sic] of the diocese. Father Lacombe will, henceforth reside in Edmonton having for assistant Father Dauphin from Onion Lake.
Father Therrien takes Father Dauphins place at Onion Lake and Father Fouquet who resided in Edmonton has been transferred to Calgary.
Father Deroches has gone to New Westminster.
Aug. 2th [sic] [written in the front/left margin] The works on the church and presbytery are progressing slowly although the weather is very fine. Our contractor gives very little satisfaction; it will be a great relief when all is terminated.
5th [written in front/left margin] We had not a drop of rain for about two months; everything is drying up.
