14 Jan [written in the right margin] A lettre [sic] is received from St Albert, from our good bishop, stating that notwithstanding his sickness, he will procede [sic] to France for the General Capital and the election of a Superior General. His Lordship will receive the skilful [sic] treatment if the french [sic] doctors and may recover yet. Amen.
15th [written in the right margin] Another dead to record: a few hours only before the reverend Father André breathed his last at the Calgary hospital, Father Bourgine died at St. Alberts. This poor Father was epileptic for many years and was not able to perform any priestly fonctions [sic], though he said daily Holy Mass. R.I.P.
29th [written in the right margin] We have a very severe winter indeed. to day it is very cold and few people assisted at Holy Mass. It is a good time for our miners though … as they work now day and night and cannot take out coal enough to satisfy demands.
Febr. 9th The reverend Mr Lemieux, newly ordained by Mgr Pascal at Regina, passed through Lethbridge to day. This young priest had been invited to Bute City. U.S. to marry one of his brothers, residing in that place. The Father here is glad to have the company of a brother priest, though it be for a short time only.

The reverend Father Legal arrives unexpectedly at Lethbridge to day. As the rev, Father Leduc, who has left for Europe, was a member of the Board of Education for the North. West. Territ… Another was to be appointed to take his place. – Therefore the rev Father Legal received a despatche [sic] from Regina, announcing his nomination. He will leave for the Capital before long.

The news is circulated to day that the C.P.R. Company has bought our Galt railroad from Dunmore to Lethbridge also the chart of extending it to MacLeod and the Crows Nest Pass.
28th [written in the front margin] Coutts [written in the front margin in pencil] Father VanTighem arrives from Coutts on the Boundery [sic] line Montana; Having left here on Monday last to say Holy Mass for the few Catholics of that place.
The father said mass at Mr H. Tennant, residence. Returning to Lethbridge, the father left for a moment the passenger, Coach in order to speak to the conductor in the Cabousse [sic] and scarcely had he left the Coach, when, through the carelessness of a brakesman [sic] , the coach was thrown in the ditch… Fortunately there was only one passenger in the Coach… who came out unhurt.
Rev & Father Lacombe writes from Montreal, that he shall return to his mission on the 22th [sic] March next.
March 8. [written in the front margin] To day arrived here a young man from Belgium from Meulbeke Flanders – He intends to take a Cattle Ranch some where at Pincher Creek, but as he cannot speak the english [sic] language he will remain for sometime in Lethbridge. He is from the birthplace of the Father here. His name is Adile [?] Desmet.
March 19 [written in the front margin] It seems as there would be no end to the winter. All our railroads are again blockaded and we have no mail from the east for about ten days.
Our friend, Captain Begin of the N.W.M.P. is actually making a subscription for the purpose of erecting a house – residence for the priest in Lethbridge –
The small appartments [sic] which the Father now occupies will be employed as a sacristy. Several plans have been prepared – brick and frame – but it has not yet
