Rain has at last appeared. Last night it began            Aug. 4 [written in back/right margin]
and it continues to day. It is a great pity it did not come a month sooner, but better late than never.
The Rev Father Doucet spent a day in Lethbridge but departed again this morning.
About two hundred Cris Indians have been brought          Aug.st 14 [written in back/right margin]
over again from the United States … They are camped at the boundery [sic] line near Milk River and as the measles have appeared among the children, they are in quarantine now… Father VanTighem has written to the Rev& Father Lestanc of Calgary, asking him, if possible, to come down and visit these poor Indians at their Camp, as many children are in danger, and likely not baptised.

this morning and will procede [sic] to the Cris Indian Camp at Milk River to night. Mr. Barclay, Superintendent of the Great Falls and Canada Railway has kindly granted a Pass to the Rev & Father.

Chapel, when a young man, Henri Taylor, Interpreter for the North West Mounted Police of this place renounced Protestantism, embrassed [sic] the Holy Catholic Faith, was baptised sub condition and did his first Communion. The newspapers bring us the sad news that our good bishop is very ill at Montreal. Public prayers have been requested for Him.

annual retreat on the 3.d day of September; It is the Rev Father Lebret O.M.I. who will preach this retreat.
The Archbishop of St Boniface, Mgr. Langevin is actually in Rome paying his visit ad Limina … We understand that His grace took up with him six names as candidates for Coadjutor Bishops of St Albert and British Columbia [both place names underlined] respectively. Both bishops Grandin and Durieu are old and infirm and require help in their difficult and most important fonctions [sic]…
Sept. 10 [written in front/left margin] Father VanTighem OMI was called back to Lethbridge immediately after the retreate [sic]; a daughter of Mr. Callaghans has been taken suddenly ill and died Happily [?] the child was not seven years of age yet.
Sept. 12 [written in front/left margin] Rain Continues falling for several days. Last night a south train departed from Lethbridge; arriving at the first section, a brakeman McAdams had to uncoupple [sic] some carts… the night was very dark and unfortunately the man felt [sic] under the wheels, being crushed and instantly killed. He leaves a young wife, but no children. He will be buried to morrow by the Methodist minister.
Oct. [written in front/left margin] 12 } Our beloved Bishop has returned from Montreal and is now at St Albert. His Lordship has not to undergo any operation, but his health is far from what we would like it to be. We know not, as yet, the name of the Coadjutor who has been appointed to our good Bishop. The Rev & Father Doucet pays a short visit to Lethbridge; arrived on Monday morning he depart the following night; he was at Mapple [sic] Creek for last Sunday.
