1909-03-22, WTL Dear sir I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letters of 12th and 30th January also 11th February which I received a short time ago I am glad to see by your letters that their is a slight advance in fur price I shall endeavour to get all the lynx + foxes I will try my best to get as much but lynx are scarce up here and hard to get I went down to Duvegan with the packet and and just got back yesterday it was a hard trip of ten days as the snow is about 2 feet up on the River I made the round trip in 11 days. I got a fairly good haull of furs on my way up from one of our Indians and all on account of his help. I am not starting out north to see the Indians I have just heard that a number of them are suffering from starvation the wolves are so thick up north that they driving out the moose which makes it hard for the indians to make a living and trap as well I have not heard from Hudons Hope for some time but expect taylor down here soon. Busy at od jobs 2 Indians arrvd from yakatchees camp Mr Jamieson and a party of about 12 men arrived from Dunvegan the Ice gettung bad Brady came in from 1/2 way River and reports the death of a white man1914-06-22, self busy in store the Indian agent left for Dunvegan this morning a fine clear day1915-03-17, Mr Howland + Man left this Morng for Dunvegan self in office contins very mild weather an Indians arrvd from the North Pine River and brought a few furs1915-03-31, Cloudy with a little snow Bob Fang arrvd from Roslie Island Davis + 2 other Indians arrvd from clear water from where they have went trapping during this winter they have sold all their furs to Dunvegan Traders1915-06-15, a fine clear day self in office some Indians arrvd from Dunvegan Mr Parsons + Mansell left this morng for H Hope1915-06-22, self very busy with Indians ???? left Mr Lairds pack train left for Dunvegan H Garbitt also left for H. Hope. Mr Lairds will be going down with Mr. Birly, in a day or two Mr Parsons arrvd from H Hope1915-08-25, Mr Howland left this Morning for Dunvegan by Canoe self in office blowing a strong gale of wind drom the west all day1915-11-02, continues fine weather self busy in office. Mr Jamieson + a women passed down ina Canoe this eveng on their way to Dunvegan Cadenhead left for home this Morng water falling
